Associate Professor Wolfgang Hürst from Utrecht University visited our lab. He toured our facilities and delivered a talk on his latest research in video interaction.

Title: Designing Video Interaction: From Traditional Screens to Immersive Experiences

Abstract: After a brief introduction to my research background, I will present our past, ongoing, and future work on interactive video exploration. Drawing on examples from both large-scale video collections and search and navigation within individual videos, I will highlight the role of the human user in video browsing and discuss how thoughtful system design can effectively support this process. Using historical perspectives spanning traditional video, mobile video, and immersive 360-degree video, I will examine how display technologies, usage contexts, and interaction paradigms shape the design of video interfaces. I will conclude with an outlook on the potential of immersive video and the key research challenges that lie ahead.
