Assistant Professor Takafumi Morita from The University of Tokyo Visited XR Group

We were honored to welcome Prof. Takafumi Morita from The University of Tokyo. During his visit, he toured our laboratory and gave a talk on electrically driven fluid actuation research.
Title: Designing Silent Liquid Expressions Based on Electrically Driven Fluid Actuation
Abstract: In the field of Human–Computer Interaction (HCI), my research integrates insights from materials science into computer interfaces, exploring real-world–oriented interfaces that can alter the physical form and function of tangible objects. In particular, I focus on the unique properties of liquids as materials capable of transforming their physical characteristics. By employing electrically driven fluid actuation techniques such as Electrohydrodynamics (EHD) and Electrowetting, my work investigates the design of silent liquid expressions—dynamic yet tranquil forms of fluid interaction. This presentation introduces my research activities and creative practices centered around liquid-based expression.
